How Diff Application Works

Prerequisites

For diff application to work:

  • File context included - the original share must include file context
  • Target file exists - the file must exist in your workspace
  • Proper file structure - the file structure must match the original

The Process

  1. Code is shared with file context included
  2. Target file is identified using file path and metadata
  3. Changes are calculated using line-by-line comparison
  4. Diff is generated showing what will change
  5. Changes are applied to the target file

Using Diff Application

Sharing Code with File Context

When sharing code for diff application:

  1. Select your code in the editor
  2. Right-click and select "Share Selected Code"
